Manhunt Underway for Convicted Felon Who Killed One, Injured Four at Easter Brunch Event in Nashville

Anton Rucker

The Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) has released the identity of a suspect being sought for the shooting that occurred at Roasted, a small restaurant in the Salemtown neighborhood of Nashville, on Sunday that killed one man and injured four others.

The man has been identified as Anton Rucker, 46, who is a convicted felon, according to MNPD.

MNPD says Rucker has aggravated assault convictions in Nashville and was arrested in Murfreesboro on felony drug charges last October and on aggravated assault and gun charges last August.

On Sunday, MNPD responded to the scene at the restaurant around 3:00 p.m. where they discovered five victims of the shooting, including the deceased man.

The gunman fled in a gray Mercedes GLS 450.

“This was not a shootout …This was one person who decided to pull a gun based on an altercation occurring with another man, and then he fired multiple shots,” MNPD spokesperson Don Aaron told reporters.

The shooting took place as the restaurant was serving Easter brunch.

Nashville Mayor Freddie O’Connell took to X, formerly Twitter, to comment on the shooting, saying, “Tragically, Easter was disrupted by gun violence in my neighborhood at one of our wonderful small businesses.”

“[MNPD] has the area secured, and [the Nashville Fire Department] has taken care of victims. My heart goes out to those who had their holiday disrupted by gun violence,” O’Connell said. “We must continue doing everything in our power at the local level to limit the likelihood and impact of gun violence.”

“We are continuing to increase police capacity, invest in community safety, and working to ensure dispossession of those who should not legally possess firearms,” McConnell added.

MNPD is asking the public with any information related to the incident to call 615-862-8600.

If the victim had been punched to death would Freddy be posting about “fist violence?”

  2. Patrick McArthur

    Freddie does not get it.
He used the propaganda phrase “gun violence” three separate times here.
But he never mentioned “career criminal”.
He never mentioned the failed system that allows violent, dangerous felons to freely roam amongst law abiding citizens.
He never mentioned the state legislature’s failure to correct this deliberately designed, anti-freedom status.
Just the same old blah, blah, blah about an inanimate object.
    We deserve better.

Number #1 killer among male/whites is a heart attack. Number #1 killer among male/blacks is another male/black.
